My name is Gabriela, and MOI by Dories is my story.
It began the way most good things do ... quietly, and out of necessity.
Candles have always been part of my home. They created atmosphere, warmth, and a sense of calm in the middle of everyday life. But regular candles burned too quickly, and I kept throwing away empty glass after empty glass. I started looking for something bigger a candle that would actually last. What I found were price tags of seven to ten thousand crowns often with a questionable content. So I decided to make it myself.
It was not the easy path I imagined. The bigger the candle, the more complicated everything becomes. It took two full years of testing, failing, and starting again before I created a candle that burns beautifully, evenly, and for a long time.
None of it would have been possible without my husband Elmer. While the candles are my craft and my vision, Elmer has been the steady force behind the scenes solving every technical challenge, building the foundations of the store, and supporting me through every doubt along the way.
I source my raw materials carefully from European suppliers, because quality and sustainability are not negotiable for me. Every candle is handmade in limited quantities. Small imperfections are part of the process, they remind you that each candle has its own story.
And when the candle burns out? The glass doesn't end up in the bin. It becomes a vase, a vessel, a new beginning.
My mission goes beyond candles.
We live in a world that moves too fast. I created MOI because I believe people deserve permission to slow down, breathe deeply, and create small rituals that bring them back to themselves. Whether it's a quiet morning with coffee, an evening bath, or simply a moment of stillness at the end of a long day MOI is here to hold that space for you.
Alongside MOI candles, I am building a line of natural wellness products designed for small, intentional rituals all made from 100% natural ingredients. Because I believe what you bring into your space should be as honest as the life you want to live.
